Activities We Provide – Supporting Growth, Confidence, and Joy
At Prosperous Independence, we offer a wide range of structured and enjoyable activities designed to support the personal development, social engagement, and emotional well-being of adults with learning disabilities and autism. Each activity is thoughtfully planned to be inclusive, engaging, and tailored to individual abilities and interests.
Social Mornings
Our Social Mornings offer a relaxed and friendly environment where individuals can connect, share, and build friendships. These sessions help reduce isolation, improve communication skills, and promote confidence in group settings through gentle conversation, games, and shared experiences.
Music Club
Music is a powerful tool for expression, relaxation, and joy. In our Music Club, individuals can sing, play instruments, or simply enjoy the rhythm and melodies. These sessions enhance mood, encourage self-expression, support memory, and offer a creative outlet in a supportive, non-judgmental space.
Arts and Crafts Club
Creativity has no boundaries, and our Arts and Crafts Club allows individuals to explore their imagination through painting, drawing, model-making, and more. This activity improves motor skills, encourages problem-solving, and offers a sense of accomplishment. It’s also a great way to express feelings that may be difficult to communicate with words.
Gardening Club
Our Gardening Club promotes calm, focus, and responsibility through hands-on work with nature. Whether planting flowers or growing vegetables, individuals develop practical skills, learn about nature, and take pride in nurturing living things. It’s also an excellent form of light physical activity and sensory engagement.
Exercise Club
Physical activity is essential for both physical and mental health. Our Exercise Club includes gentle movement, stretching, games, and dance, adapted to suit all abilities. Regular exercise boosts energy, improves mobility and coordination, and enhances mood and overall well-being.
Movie Club
Movie Club provides a cosy and relaxed setting for watching films together, followed by optional discussions. It encourages social interaction, listening, and emotional engagement with stories and characters, while also offering a fun way to unwind and enjoy shared interests.
Cookery Club
In our Cookery Club, individuals learn basic cooking skills in a safe, structured environment. From simple snacks to full meals, this activity builds confidence, promotes independence, teaches healthy eating habits, and offers a great sense of achievement. Sharing meals together also fosters community and social connection.
These activities are more than just ways to pass the time—they are carefully chosen to nurture personal growth, encourage independence, and most importantly, bring happiness and purpose to every day at Prosperous Independence.
We Accept Devon County Council Funding

At Prosperous Independence, we are pleased to accept funding through Devon County Council to help individuals and families access our adult day care services.
If you or your loved one receives support through a Devon County Council care package, this funding can be used to cover the cost of our day services, including attendance at our activity programmes and use of our sensory room. We work closely with social workers, care coordinators, and families to ensure a smooth and supportive referral and funding process.
Our team is here to help you understand your options and guide you through the necessary steps, whether you’re new to adult social care funding or already have an approved plan.
If you would like to find out more about using your Devon County Council funding with us—or need support in applying—please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re happy to answer any questions and assist you every step of the way.
